Wayb Pico Travel Car Seat

Lightest FAA-approved car seat on the market. That's the whole pitch.

The Wayb Pico is the lightest FAA-approved car seat on the market. When you're flying with two kids and trying to get through an airport with car seats, strollers, bags, and whatever the toddler has decided is load-bearing that day, weight matters. The Wayb is about 8 pounds. Most travel car seats are double that.

Age minimum is 2 years (and 22 pounds). So not for the baby phase. But once your older kid is big enough, it makes flying with a car seat actually doable instead of something you dread.

I've never actually used it as a plane seat. First time I flew with it we got upgraded and the first-class seat belts are too thick for it to install (champagne problems). Cleo now expects to sit in a real seat and it's a battle I'm not willing to fight. But I still bring it on the plane as one of our carry-ons. Not willing to risk it getting lost or damaged if it gets checked. Probably overkill, but worth it for the peace of mind.

Installation is easy. Safe in the Seat has a great walkthrough if you want to see what it looks like.
