You need a pediatrician before you deliver. Most of them will do intro phone calls or appointments, so use them. Find one you vibe with: whose advice you trust, whose office you feel comfortable in, and who will actually listen to you.
Personalities matter. One of my mom friends and I had the same ped in LA. I loved her, she hated her. She felt railroaded, I felt like I had an efficient fellow to brainstorm with. Same doctor, completely different read. The fit is the whole thing.
So don't wait until your one-week appointment to find out you don't gel.
