Cleo wants wavy hair. Hers is stick-straight (mine too, kid, sorry). We'd been doing braids at night anyway, mostly to keep her hair from breaking, and she loved the leftover waves in the morning. So the goal became: waves on purpose, without turning bedtime into a salon appointment.
Enter the Kitsch one-two punch.
Step one, after bath: the towel scrunchie. Twist her wet hair up into it and it just absorbs. No blow dryer, no rubbing, no effort from anyone. Step two: a petite satin scrunchie around a bun, and she sleeps on it.
She woke up with excellent Hermione hair. I tamed it with a half pony and it was super cute. She was thrilled. The whole routine takes maybe ninety seconds, and most of that is negotiating which scrunchie color.
The one thing nobody tells you: the satin is the trick, not the bun. A regular cotton scrunchie at that size creases and snaps the same hair you were braiding to protect. Satin holds the bun without leaving evidence.
