Baby-led weaning is great for development and terrible for floors. These are the difference between wiping down a mat and scrubbing avocado out of grout. They also double for messy art projects with the older kid (paint, playdough, glitter if you're feeling brave).

Disposable is the key feature here. You could get a reusable mat and wash it every day, but you won't. You'll mean to. You won't. I will say - we tried some biodegradable brands, but they melted under mushy fruit/water.
